What I liked about this story is that it’s engaging. It kept me invested in the story, anxiously awaiting how everything played out. The humorous bits helped to diffuse the tension and added an extra little flair to the story, which I think was very well done and not too over the top.
I think this story could’ve been much longer without slowing down too much. Particularly at the end where everything went by very quick (or maybe I just read it too fast).
I have to say that I’m not much of a literary horror fan. I usually find them way too focused on specific elements with a slightly disjointed story (at least in my experience). However, this was well thought out with the multiple view points and I loved that everything is answered in this book with the possibility of more happening beyond the story, which is something I think a good horror does.
Though the elements of horror are there, it’s not one of those intense read-with-the-lights-on type of books, but it has enough of that oomph that makes this read enjoyable.
