Traitor… Liar… That’s what they call me. No one believes me. Not even my team. I know it’s up to me to get the answers. To stop the corruption and unlock my memories. I’ll do anything to get them back. Even if my hands will be covered in blood.
Elsa’s every move is scrutinized. She’s labeled a traitor by those she sought for protection, and kept from her family and team. Regaining memories has been a slow process. Too slow for the Council’s liking, taking matters into their own hands.
The new captain has history with Elsa and operates with a hidden agenda. Even Elsa’s team reacts differently toward her. If only she could unlock her memories. Everything is playing right into Alexander’s hand, even amassing an army with unconventional methods, designed to annihilate the Nepherium—starting with Noah. Elsa will do anything to stop Alexander … even kill.
I sighed, leaning against the side wall of my bunk, and crossed my free arm over my torso. What I wouldn’t give to wake from this nightmare.
“Why are you blocking me?” the captain asked with a short clip in her tone.
I turned my attention to her. “I’m—I’m not blocking you.”
I looked at the detector with confusion pinching my brow.
“You are in a very delicate situation. If I were you, I’d watch what I said.” She shifted her eyes to the detector and back to mine, lifting her brows in emphasis. “Why are you blocking me?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
I stared at the contraption, entertaining the thought of tossing the damned thing across the room, then turned my attention to the captain. “I mean, I’m not aware of blocking anything.”
“You’re blocking my attempt to read your mind. Why?”
“I don’t know. I didn’t feel you trying. I never block until then.”
The detector responded with beeps and green flashing lights. I sighed. While the captain wrote more notes, I stared at the black orb. So many questions filled my mind, whispering in continuous succession. The click of a pen and the captain’s shift in movement drew my attention back to her. She stood from the chair and walked to me.
What the Reviews are Saying . . .
What a wonderful gift to be able to continue Elsabetha’s story! I couldn’t wait to find out what she is able to remember and how the changes her life. This story is such a captivating read as we are able to delve deeper into her past and watch the two collide as sparks fly and the danger level increases beyond measure.
In this part of her journey, Elsabetha is thankfully able to find both her family and her friends, but in her heart she knows that the path her feet have been set upon will test every part of her and stretch her to the limits of her mind, her heart, and ultimately her life. A great evil is growing, and she is the key to its destruction. While she is ready to run pell mell into the frey, her friends and family try their best to help her prepare for what they know she will have to face and conquer in order to reclaim her life and her heart.
The cast of characters that we met along the way are both wonderfully heartening and deceptively evil. Those closest to Elsabetha try their best to help her reclaim her memories, but even with the ranks of those she should able to trust without question, something sinister is slowly taking over. She holds fast to those whose love is unwavering for her, and she draws strength from them in order to continue her fight. Unsure of the future and yet helpless to watch without doing all she can to make things right, she pushes ever onward with a heart full of love, a mind that grows stronger each day, and the steadfast help of those who believe in her.
I can’t say with sufficient words how much I loved watching this excruciating yet stunning journey unfold before me. The spellbinding joy found along with the terrible pain made the journey worth every ounce of strength and heart that was poured into it. What is good is not always easy, but it is worth the price that has to be paid. I can’t wait to see what happens next. There is more to this story than meets the eye, and I can’t wait to see what is revealed next! Samantha LaFantasie is a truly amazing author who I want to whole world to get to know. You don’t know what you are missing out on!
I read this book prior to release and I feel pretty damn lucky that I got the opportunity to do so! I LOVED the first book in this novella series, but this one was EVEN BETTER! I actually don’t usually like sci-fi, or characters as tough as Elsa (though I know many people do), but I have to make an exception with LaFantasie’s books because the writing is so good, the plot so interesting, the characters so real that you can’t help but get lost between the pages! I eagerly await the next installment! Don’t miss out on this one, folks!
